It only took 15 at bats for Ken Griffey Jr. to notch his first home run of 2008, and No. 594 of his career.

Junior went deep Sunday in the bottom of the first off Philadelphia starter Brett Myers, now the 378th hurler Griffey has homered against in his career.

With Jeff Keppinger aboard, Myers delivered a down-and-in 1-1 pitch to Junior who sent it out high and deep (estimated 388 ft) into the right field stands giving the Reds a 2-0 lead.

While the home run leaves Swingman just six short of 600 career home runs, the blast does mark Griffey’s 100th career dinger as a Red in Cincinnati. Of the 100 long-balls, 62 have come at the new Great American Ballpark while the other 38 were courtesy of Riverfront Stadium/Cinergy Field.

  • Swingman 2008:

1. Sunday April 6 - Brett Myers - Great American Ballpark, Reds win 8-2

1 Barry Bonds - 762

2 Hank Aaron - 766

3 Babe Ruth - 714
