Here’s the video of Lou’s first explosion during the 2008 season. It took place in the post game press conference following yesterday’s 4-3 loss against Milwaukee.

  • Outfielder Matt Murton was optioned to Triple-A Iowa to make room for Soriano on the 25-man roster.
  • The Cubs also sent right-hander Kevin Hart to Iowa in exchange for reliever Chad Fox (Double-A Tennessee).
  • Out of the bullpen Hart (2-1) has gone at least one inning in 10 of his appearances this year.
  • Mark DeRosa lost his Wrigley Field hitting streak to 15 games after an 0-2 performance Thursday.
  • For the first time in Cubs’ history, three players collected at least 20 RBIs for the month of April: Derek Lee (23), Aramis Ramirez (22) and Geovany Soto (20).
  • Ryan Dempster (4-0) and Carlos Zambrano (4-1) are the first Cubs’ pitchers to win four games in the month of April since 2003 when Kerry Wood and Mark Prior each started 4-1.
  • After facing three consecutive left-handed starters last weekend in Washington, the Cubs are now in a stretch of facing six right-handed starters in-a-row.
  • Tomorrow, left-hander Ted Lilly toes the rubber in St. Louis. This also marks Lilly’s fourth road start of the season.
  • Ted is also looking to string together his third straight quality start, although, he lost 2-0 his last time out against Washington.
  • For his career Lilly is 3-2 all time against St. Louis allowing 13 ER in 40 IP: ERA 2.93. Last season Lilly went 2-2 vs. the Cards.
  • Set-up man Carlos Marmol has managed 12 scoreless outings and nine hitless outings in 18.1 innings of work so far in 2008.
  • The Cubs have lost two games in-a-row five times this season, however, they have not lost three consecutive games.
  • Bad news for the Brew Crew, young pitching phenom Yovani Gallardo re-injured his right knee during a collision at first base with Reed Johnson. The early reports today list the right-hander with a torn ACL: he could miss the rest of the season.
  • I don’t celebrate injuries, but this is a huge break for the Cubs. Plus, the Brewers still have to deal with the everyday uncertainties of Ben Sheets’ health.

Is it possible Junior could be headed to Chicago after hitting his 600th career home run?

  • The Blue Jays have finished third in the AL East eight of the last 10 seasons. They’ve won between 83 and 88 games in six of the last 10. They haven’t taken a division title since 1993, the season they won a second consecutive World Series crown. Last year, they won 83 games despite having players have 13 surgical procedures.
